About Me
Silicon Valley Mom with 3 kids on the edge of adulthood! When not thinking about food, you can find me rowing, taking photos, reading, cycling, hanging with friends, complaining about my kids and drinking lots of coffee. To support my addiction and hobbies, I work as a pediatric oncology pharmacist. The pharmacists & techs I work with are all phenomenal (shout out to BC) and have definitely delayed thoughts of retirement. Beyond that, there are the precious patients and their families whose courage in the face of adversity never ceases to amaze me.
The 3Jamigos refers to my kids as their names all begin with J. They have flown the coop and are now in college, effectively ending my career as a school volunteer, coach, team mom, unpaid Uber driver, sherpa, nurse, and maid. Now my job is cheerleader, confidant, and advice line support for “Mom how do I make…” as they hurtle towards adulthood and independence.
Update 6/2018:
Doing the happy dance! Tuition-Free at last, free at last! They are all out and paving their own paths in life. Of course, I will always be there to lend a helping hand or nudge or send a recipe.
Update 11/2023: Three Jamigos Expanding
Post-COVID we piece our lives back together and find a new normal. Sadly, we lost our dog Sammy during COVID.
The kids are truly embracing their adulthood. Two of them are getting married in 2024. A busy but happy time for 3Jamigos. Jamie got a puppy, named him Moose, and moved to NYC. He’s a cutie, very different from Sammy, quite the friendly little guy. Wish he lived closer…and Jamie too. (Swear that was not an afterthought).
The Essence of Three Jamigos
For the most part, this blog is about food. I like to cook and I love to bake. I have an addiction to cookbooks and kitchen gadgets but I guess there are far worse addictions in life. Recipes I tend towards are usually simple and straightforward, foods I grew up with or favorites of my kids. Down-home comfort food, which in my case, means lots of Cantonese food. This is the cuisine of southeast China which includes Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau. Growing up in the Bay Area, I ran the streets of Chinatown as a kid. I try to recreate the dishes my grandfather and father made. Asian soul food is simple, fresh, and delicious!
Ahhh, The Good Life…The Retired Life
An exciting addition to 3jamigos. The hubster retired from medical practice right around when COVID began. He is now a fledgling artisan woodworker. Check out his projects under Wes’s Woodworking! If you see something you like, e-mail us!
