They have gone viral for their Cinnamon Rolls. I found them too gooey, and dense, the icing overshadowed the roll and has a sour edge without balanced sweetness. I couldn’t taste any cinnamon. I prefer a buttery, breadier texture bun and a sweeter icing. We tried the classic and the Caramel Pecan. Because they put their icing on the caramel pecan, I couldn’t taste the caramel. I wish I had gotten one without the frosting. Service was friendly and quick. Tried the Ossessione, Mortadella, Pistachio pesto for crunch, Stracciatlla and a black garlic aioli on house made Focaccia. 👍My fav was the 8-1/2 a nod to Fellini, porchetta, arugula, mostarda of candied orange and a garlic confit. The play on different flavors and textures, and great bread elevate these sandwiches. Can’t wait to go back. Couple of vegetarian options including a portabello and a frito misto which sound amazing..but I’m going back for the tuna sandwich! We are big Top Chef fans and as luck would have it the crew was there! Ok, I’m late but these Berry handpies are worth Ok, I’m late but these Berry handpies are worth making any day. In my defense, I did make them on Pi Day after a long day at work. This is a great recipe from @kingarthurbaking especially for novice pie dough folks. The dough is made with sour cream, which gives it a slight tangy flavor. Throw a couple folds in to laminate the dough for flakiness. Easy dough to work with, really. Their Sandos are built on their house made Shokupan or Milk Bread, think Asian Brioche. Had a spam, egg and cheese breakfast Sando with a Gochujang aioli👍Cannot lie I took half home pulled out the spam and fried it cause I’m in the crispy camp, delish. The egg reminds me of tamago, fluffy rolled egg omelette-yum. I missed out on their La Luna Pan, someone bought them all! How rude 😂 So I got their butter mochi and apple pie scone. I’ll be back! Looks like they do a lot of pre-orders and folks are finding out about them, not a lot of foot traffic outside but a constant stream of folks coming in. We started with the Mezze Platter a variety of dips, grape leaves and giant beans. Had the sea bass which was perfectly cooked on a bed of veggies and roasted potatoes. Delicious, gorgeous meal at Tiya in the Marina. Pr Delicious, gorgeous meal at Tiya in the Marina. Progressive Indian food. We chose the a la carte menu and ordered a variety of dishes to try. Def lends itself well to family style dining. Standouts include the Yogurt Chaat, Cauliflower Pakoda, Lamb Keema with Masala Babka, a warm, pillowy, buttery bun that I wanted more of. Our large plate favs included the Sach Paneer, Butter Chicken, and Lamb Shank. Finished off the meal with their Carrot Cake and Coconut Sorbet but honestly the perfect ending for me was their Chai served with a delicious cookie similar to a Russian or Mexican Wedding Cookie. Last month on our last day in New York, we braved Last month on our last day in New York, we braved the cold to walk to Mary O’s Irish Soda Bread Shop for their amazing Irish Soda Bread Scones. The scones are crunchy on the outside, steamy warm on the inside, slathered with butter that oozes into the nooks and crannies and topped with Mary’s blackberry jam. Totally worth the walk and wait, even at 7:15AM. We made dumpling wrappers from scratch, folded dumplings,fried radish cakes, composed a sashimi salad, made@Buddist Delight and finished with pineapple cakes. Linda is a great teacher, picked up quite a few tips. The Civic Kitchen is beautiful and the perfect place to spend the afternoon cooking a banquet and then you get to gather and eat! Civic Kitchen supports Mi Cocina, an incubator program that teaches POC women how to start businesses. Walking Moose and stumbled upon this cute shop @f Walking Moose and stumbled upon this cute shop @fongon1933 on the outskirts of NYC Chinatown. A family tofu shop serving soft tofu, sweet and savor and sells house made soy milk and tofu. It was about 30 degrees so I opted for the hot savory version topped with pickled radishes, fried shallots, scallions… delish! So then I got a plain cold tofu with brown sugar syrup to take home! next time I’m going for the sweet cold tofu topped with boba, grass jelly and taro, yum! #tofu #softtofu #nychinatown #chinatowneats
