Fall is definitely in the air! I spent the day mak Fall is definitely in the air! I spent the day making Curry Chicken with rice and an apple pie. Comfort food to take my mind off the election. As much as I like cooking from scratch, I do “cheat” when it comes to curries. This curry chicken is made easy with curry paste blocks found in Japanese stores and most Asian Grocers. Serve over hot rice with Fukujinzuke, Japanese pickles. I like using bone-in chicken pieces so it takes a little longer. Dinner on the table in about an hour! Coast to coast I love seeing the next gen coming b Coast to coast I love seeing the next gen coming back and opening businesses in Chinatown. From bookstores to restaurants, like @fourkings__ or @misterjius in SF or @yuandmebooks in NYC, they are breathing new life into our community. Every time we are in NYC we hit up @potluckclubny for creative cocktails and delicious food. Ya gotta get their dumplings, rice noodle roll chow fun, and Fried chicken and Chive Biscuits. We sampled a trio of recipes from the book and I’ll be making all of them soon! The Miso Pork Balls were delicious but my favorite was the Deviled Eggs with crispy bread crumbs and pork floss. Much to Jamie’s embarrassment, I was fangirling meeting all of these amazing women. @hettymckinnon whose mom is from the same area in China as mine @sohlae say no to Momofuku😉 and @nom_life whose IG serves as my bucket list bible of places to visit & eat at. Portland Part 1 Spent a couple of days in Portland Portland Part 1 Spent a couple of days in Portland before heading to Black Butte for a wedding. Although Portland’s downtown looks like it is still struggling post-Covid we found some gems. Had to stop at Powells Bookstore (so many books,so little time) and it is still Food Cart Mecca, midtown Beer Garden has some great carts including Tokyo Sando for Katsu Sammies, Bing Mi for jiang bing, think Taiwanese wraps, and hand-pulled noods at Stretch the Noodle. Nice vibe for lunch. Found two great restaurants, Queen Mama Kitchen in Downtown, amazing Mediterranean food from a Saudi Arabian family. Mezza platter and any lamb dish 😍 and finish with their cheesecake, a little further out Xiao Ye (midnight snack in Chinese), great atmosphere, good food with an Asian twist. My favs include the Salted Egg Shrimp,, Roast Chicken with Rice and pickles, Hamachi and Perilla Yum! Multiple visits to Blue Star for fab donuts, I love the OG Buttermilk, Raspberry Rosemary, and Brioche donuts! ❤️ Portland Japanese Garden and don't forget to check the art installations at Portland Airport #jacobhashimoto

No rolling involved, the dough makes both the press-in tart crust and the crumble on top. Cornmeal adds wonderful texture. Tried the Hawaiian Hula Blend on grilled flank steak and on roasted cauliflower. Delish! By far my favorite is the Night Market blend to make Ginger Scallion Sauce for Poached Chicken. I love how it has a touch of sweet and citrus flavors on top of the salt, 5 Spice and peppercorns. It’s a keeper!

Honey Sesame Tofu Puffs adapted from @eatchofood Tofu Puffs are stir-fried in a sweet, and slightly tangy sauce and finished with sesame seeds and scallions.
